I was out late Wednesday night so didn’t have a chance to write about my day. I am going to combine a few days now and then to keep this journal manageable!
Day 3
My morning exercise today was a bike ride with my “eBabes” early morning biking group. Once the sunrise begins by 6 am, we meet early for a 15-20 mile ride. While it is hard to wake up early a third day in a row, it was worth it, as it was a gorgeous morning and great to see my friends!
For breakfast I had oatmeal again. I don’t mind the redundancy, and it is a good way to get the chia seeds point! I used steel cut oats and added a few raisins this time for a little variation. After my shower, I took some time to declutter my bathroom drawers.
I was absorbed in work and so didn’t take a break until about 1pm. I made a green smoothie and had a hard boiled egg, and some snap peas with hummus. I took some time to saute some brussels sprouts and spiral some zucchini to be ready for dinner later. I was going out to see a play, so knew I would probably wait until the last minute as usual!
I did manage to walk away from work in time to reheat the veggies I had prepared, add some organic tomato sauce and chop up a leftover turkey burger. It wasn’t the most delicious thing I ever had, but it was healthy and filling enough.
I almost forgot to stretch, but did it somewhat half-heartedly before I went to bed after midnight.
Day 4
Even though I went to bed late, I woke up at 6 and couldn’t sleep. A friend gave me the book “Hallelujah Anyway” by Anne Lamott, so I stayed in bed and savored some wisdom. I woke up in time to get to Body By Ginny a few minutes late. I am taking it easy today and tomorrow, as I am prepping for a 10-15 mile run on Saturday.
I had eggs for breakfast with Tumeric, power greens and green onions and spent a few minutes glancing at the paper before diving into work. I really think the motivation of taking photos of my food with the intention of sharing them makes me focus more on making my food appealing and complete.
I had a business lunch at a restaurant that served lots of things with french fries! I stuck with a Cobb salad, no cheese and dressing/vinaigrette on the side. It was fulfilling and I didn’t really miss the fries once I started eating.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up some fresh produce. I had to also pick up cookies for a family event this weekend. I didn’t let myself think about it, but several things in the store looked really good! I picked up some flavored Keurig coffee pods that were on sale, but when I got home I realized they had sugar in them, so will have to give them away to my son in college. Darn! I was hoping that would be a good treat.
After walking the dog, I defrosted some leftover pork tenderloin from the freezer, made some brown rice and sauteed some asparagus. I didn’t have much time or creativity this evening, as I am heading out again. Normally, this would result in a not-so-healthy meal, but I am glad I took a few minutes to be mindful and prepare.
I will have to stretch before bed again … I may make that my routine!
